Installing AddOn

Usually, the addon installation is a straightforward operation to perform. However, you must take into account the kind of user who is using QuantumATK. Namely, there are two different kinds of users:

  • Limited access users: They can use QuantumATK but cannot modify the installation, which is in control of a system administrator.

  • Administrators: They have a local installation on their systems where they are local administrators, they can install and uninstall QuantumATK (or other software) themselves.

Install AddOns as limited access users

While local administrators can just run QuantumATK with admin rights and install addons, limited access users have to take an additional step since they cannot write to the main installation folder. In the Preferences dialog of QuantumATK, one can find the option to install addons in a separate folder, which is located in the user profile directory. After enabling this option any user can install additional addons.

Installing AddOns on the local system

We distinguish the following cases:

A. Install official addons. In this case just follow these steps (assuming you have internet connection):

  • Step 1: Open QuantumATK and click the “Help” button on the toolbar.

  • Step 2: Choose “AddOn Manager” - a window pops up (see above).

  • Step 3: Choose the addon you want (directly or using the search box).

  • Step 4: Restart QuantumATK to activate the new add-on.

B. Ready to install zip file. In this case we assume that you have already the zip folder of the addon (downloaded from our website or elsewhere) somewhere on your system and would like to install it (no internet connection is required).

  • Step 1: Open QuantumATK and click the “Help” button on the toolbar.

  • Step 2: Choose “AddOn Manager” - a window pops up.

  • Step 3: Click the button “Install zip/folder”.

  • Step 4: Navigate to the downloaded zip file and install it.

  • Step 5: Restart QuantumATK to activate the new add-on.
