Memory Allocation Errors

The following error messages usually mean that the calculation has requested more memory than is available on the computer:

  • Error: Bad Allocation

  • Killed by signal 9

  • Can't allocate memory for array

  • This application has requested the Runtime to terminate it in an unusual way.

  • Not enough space to allocate vblock

Reduce the number of MPI processes on each node and use threading instead where possible. If that is insufficient, reduce the calculation accuracy or system size.
